Ajna - Third eye

The sixth chakra, the Ajna chakra, is in the area of the third eye, which is found in the space between the eyebrows. It encompasses the pituitary gland, eyes, head, and lower part of the brain. An invisible yet powerful third eye, this is your center of intuition.

Ajna, roughly translates as ‘beyond wisdom’ and probably one of the most infamous energy centre. Mostly because it I believed that our Third eye is out connection to expanded states of consciousness. They go way beyond the 5 senses and the material world we live in. Extrasensory perception, intuition, and psychic abilities are all derive from the third eye.

Many ancient cultures knew about the third eye’s presence. They believed it to be our human connection to the divine.

When your Third Eye is balanced, you’ll feel in tune with the physical and spiritual world. You’ll also be able to connect with both your ego and your soul.

The their eye is like your long lost Sixth Sense

Your world is experienced through the five senses. Even before we were born, we heard noises like our mother’s voice and heartbeat, and listened to muffled sounds outside. We experienced touch, taste, and even perceived light. And since the moment of birth, we’ve attributed our experiences to what we perceive through the senses. We've learned to trust our senses in what we can taste, smell, touch, see, and hear. While sense perception is great in life experience, it limits us when it comes to expanding our spiritual awareness.

At one time, you had to count on your sense of intuition and inner knowing. Before modern technology, we had to rely on signals from the environment and a more primal instinct to guide us. Just like birds can sense when a tsunami might hit, or squirrels know when it’s time to gather food for the winter, humans too have an intuitive sense. We’ve simply lost touch with it as well as our ability to trust in it. Now we have a phone in our pocket that can tell us about the weather tomorrow. We travel through continents. We are very faraway where we started as intuitive primal beings.

How would you work on The third eye connection?
Meditate- Whether you focus your attention :

  • up between the eyebrows to your third eye. Often, new meditators will report having a tingling feeling in the third eye or equate it to a headache.

  • focusing on your sense true intuition. Focusing on your knowledge, on yourself and the known coming together

Reflect. I believe in the power of reflecting on our thoughts. Maybe take a few minutes of meditation/ breathwork and channel your attention to a few questions:

  • - Am I connected to my intuition? Do I trust it?

  • Finally you may repeat mantras to yourself to bring balance and change: "My internal wisdom is my guide. Through my connection with endless wisdom, anytjhing is possible. I am connected"

  • or repeat the bijou sound of the chakra: OM

  • If you want to work on Ajna then practice meditation or breathwork.
A great Pranayama breathing technique is called Brahmari or the bee breath. Bring both hands to your face. Place the two middle fingers over your eyes. Allow the index fingers to rest on the eyebrow line and the pinky fingers under the cheekbones. Close your ears with your thumbs. Take a deep inhalation and exhale the word AUM with the emphasis on the “M” sound while creating a buzzing sound like a bee. Do this for two minutes or more.

Be open to new things.
